Not fun but hey, I have a job, right?
well I'm reconsidering that blessing. I've had to hammer and re-hammer out my schedule for the k-8th school, and as it stands I have about forty-two classes coming through this week. Forty-freakin' two!
For the first three days of the week I have twenty-eight classes, taking in kindergarten to fifth grades with about nine classes a day. According to contract, it's the 'teacher's discretion' to leave their class with me since I'm credentialed, and ninety-nine percent of them do, which isn't too bad with the older grades, but the Kinders get anxious and go a little needy, which is hard on me since I don't have a ton of experience with that grade level--certainly not in group numbers up to thirty-two. (one Kinder teacher didn't even bother to introduce me--she waved them in the door and took off, then came back three minutes later than her alloted time and had the gall to look snotty when I mentioned it.)
I have no time for shelving--it's boom, boom, boom classes ALL day with barely enough time between them to go to the bathroom. Frankly this school needs their own full-time librarian, but it's not going to happen any time soon and what I'm realizing is that I'm going to burn out before Christmas at this rate.
And that's not even counting the OTHER school!
Not much anyone can do, but I'm glad I can gripe here where you guys know what it's like. Thanks for letting me get it off my chest.
