Dark & Twisty

My favorite spelling error of the day (if not year) came in the agenda for my director's organization meeting:

5. Difficult Patrons and the NY Division of Human Rites

Does this mean we'll get to offer up unruly patrons to the library gods - oh please oh please oh please???

I'm 100% behind this! Nothing keeps 'em in line like blood sacrifices!

At the very least, voodoo dolls in the form of particularly difficult patrons would be a nice touch, especially if we could tape over their mouths.

I really wanted to reply with an off-color joke to the library system as a whole (65 libraries) but felt it would be unappreciated. So of course, I posted here because I knew fellow Mofos would enjoy it!

Out of curiosity, I looked up the gods in charge of books and libraries.

Cadmus: founder of Thebes and demigod of alphabets.

Sarasvati, mother goddess and patron of creativity who is said to inhabit libraries.

Seshat, daughter of Thoth and the Queen of the Bookroom, patron of books and libraries.

Wen-Chang, god of literature, books, libraries, education and learning.

So if any of you WANTED to create human rites for the library gods and goddesses...I think you could.

Brilliant! I'm going to find a use for these (somehow) - thank you!

The real trouble is finding an appropriate sacrifice - the are so many regulars to choose from.

Haha! Wouldn't it be nice?

Patron: "What??? I can't pay these fines! I don't have that kind of money."

Library staff: "We also accept a sacrifice of your first born to cover fines or lost material fees."
